Mobile Marketing Strategy

Mobile Marketing

is definitely making itself known in the news headlines lately. It seems nearly every day there is a new company, a new service and even some new success stories. A lot of the news is on a national level but the same strategies and tactics can be used on the local level with success as well.

SMS Success Story In Oklahoma

First a short mobile marketing report from the home front. You all have heard of SMS Text Message Marketing. A lot of people have a had a difficult time building a list of subscribers and others don’t seem to have a problem at all. But believe me, all it takes is effort and to remember that ASK=GET.

I have a client that started the weekend of July 23rd building his SMS subscriber list. Over the next 2 1/2 months he has 136 active subscribers. Now many of think that is not a big deal but consider these circumstances. This client only had never heard of SMS Text Messaging, and the opportunity he has to build his list is on Saturdays at an open air market. During the 2 months he was out in the public markets the average temperature outside was 100+ degrees F. I even think there was one Saturday he was not able to go out to the markets. What did this client do to have such success in building his subscriber list? He put up a little 8 1/2 by 11 piece of paper that offered a 5% discount off the retail purchase price of his products and asked people to join his list for announcements and specials throughout the year. All it amounted to was offering something of VALUE in return for a phone number. Kind of like the old sales adage, ASK=GET!

Since then my client has sent SMS messages several times to his list and no one has opted-out, no one has complained and people showed up at his booth to purchase more products because he let them know he would be at the market. It is amazing, my client had never sent text messages before, he did not really care about using them personally but he found out that very many of his customers wanted to be contacted by text messages. Hmm…. that kind of dispels an old myth that ‘just because someone doesn’t like text messaging no one else does either’.

I am really happy for this client because I knew he could build a list easily and it would be an effective marketing tactic for him to use. SMS Text Messaging is all about Local Marketing. I still feel confident that SMS Text Message Marketing will work in any industry and for any business. My client is using a mobile marketing strategy and our SMS Message Pro product and loves it.

My Closing Thoughts

Now is the time to be in Mobile Marketing, and as a small business person there are several take away from these articles. The Mobile Consumer is not going away and is growing faster than any other consumer base. Mobile Consumers are different than your everyday walk-up customer and most of them don’t rely on just print or TV advertising to make their buying decisions. Mobile Marketing is the ONLY WAY to reach the mobile consumer.

I always talk about the ‘Mobile Consumer’ and for good reason. It should make us think and ask ourselves, ‘who are these mobile consumers?’. There is no fast answer to that question, but what we can all do is understand every customer we have and get to know them better. By really understanding and knowing you current customers you can then understand what drives them to purchase. Most likely you will find out more than half of them are the Mobile Consumers themselves.

Thanks, have a Great Day, get started on you mobile marketing strategy and Good Selling!
